Committee

Welcome

The club was formed in late 1992 by a group of five or six skippers who were mainly interested in sailing and racing the radio controlled 6 metre class.

There soon followed a keen interest in the 1 metre class (IOM) and the club started to grow rapidly and embraced marblehead skippers.

By this time the membership increased to thirty plus, a situation maintained today. Within the past year there has been a dramatic increase in the following of the laser class and currently some eight members sail this class regularly. This has absorbed the demise in popularity of both the 6 metre and marblehead class.

During the club's history we have hosted a number of important events including national championships, regional heats and laser association competitions. The club has a strong program of competitive events but newcomers and casual skippers are welcome.

We sail Wednesday afternoons as well as Sunday mornings and it is not too rare to see scale craft looking majestic at our fine sailing venue.

31/08/2008      well, what a wash out day we had today. I understood the rain was due to come across from the West by the afternoon but it got here early.

What with that and the very light winds, sailing wasn't much fun and it was generally agreed after 5 races to call it a day with, what has proven to be, a very interesting position at the top of the table. You may recall we had Paddy just 1 point read more »

10/08/2008      Latest results and Newsletter now online.

Unlike 2 weeks ago we had more wind today than was good for us, everyone changing down to No 2's before the first race started, and then we all experienced various problems from time to time, so it was all the more remarkable that Graham managed to put ibn such read more »
